A public masterclass led by internationally acclaimed pianists Denis Zhdanov and Elina Akselrud.

Participants will perform a piece of their choice and receive individual coaching on technique, tone production, interpretation, and musical expression. Auditors are also welcome to attend and observe.

Denis Zhdanov（デニス・ジダーノフ） は、オーストリアを拠点に国際的に活動するウクライナ出身のピアニスト・ピアノ教育者です。ルツェルン交響楽団、フェスティバル・ストリングス・ルツェルン、ポズナン・アマデウス室内管弦楽団、ウッチ・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団などと共演し、ソリストとして幅広く演奏活動を行っています。

演奏家として順調にキャリアを重ねる一方で、過度な筋肉の使用による深刻な故障を経験。その克服のためにピアノ演奏の身体構造や生理学を徹底的に研究し、自らの奏法を根本から再構築しました。この経験は現在の教育理念の核となっており、技術的な問題の本質を見極め、身体に無理のない効率的な奏法へと導く独自の指導法として高く評価されています。

しかし、効率的なテクニックは彼の音楽の半分に過ぎません。ウクライナをはじめとする東欧ピアノ・スクールの伝統に根ざした豊かな音楽的想像力、緻密なアーティキュレーション、深い作品解釈、そして幅広い様式への理解を大切にし、「テクニックは目的ではなく、音楽を自由に語るための手段である」という考えのもと、一人ひとりの表現を育てる指導を行っています。

ウクライナ、イタリア、イギリス、スイスで研鑽を積み、グラーツ音楽・舞台芸術大学およびルツェルン音楽大学で教鞭を執るなど、教育者としても豊富な経験を持ちます。また、オンラインスクールでは世界中の数千人のピアニストを指導し、YouTubeチャンネルの総再生回数は600万回を超えるなど、国際的に幅広い支持を集めています。

Denis Zhdanov is a Ukrainian concert pianist and piano educator based in Austria, internationally recognized for both his performances and his distinctive approach to piano teaching. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Festival Strings Lucerne, Poznań Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, and the Łódź Philharmonic Orchestra, while maintaining an active career as a soloist and chamber musician.

Early in his career, Denis faced a serious playing injury caused by muscular overuse. Through an intensive study of piano technique, physiology, and efficient movement, he completely rebuilt his approach to playing. This experience became the foundation of his teaching philosophy: identifying the root causes of technical problems and helping pianists develop healthy, natural, and efficient technique.

At the same time, his artistry is deeply rooted in the great Eastern European piano tradition, emphasizing rich musical imagination, refined articulation, profound interpretation, and stylistic versatility. For Denis, technique is never an end in itself, but a means of expressing music freely and authentically.

Denis studied in Ukraine, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, and has taught at both the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria) and the Lucerne School of Music (Switzerland). Beyond the university setting, he has taught thousands of students through his online piano school, while his educational YouTube channel has attracted more than 6 million views, inspiring pianists around the world through performances, lectures, and practical guidance.

Dr. Elina Akselrud（エリナ・アクセルルド） は、ウクライナ系アメリカ人のピアニスト、アーティスティック・リサーチャー、そしてファインアート・フォトグラファーです。クラシック音楽と現代芸術を横断する活動を展開し、学際的アートプロジェクト Intertwining Arts のアーティスティック・ディレクターを務めています。音楽と映像、写真、ダンスなどを融合させた独自のコンサート作品を各国で発表しています。

演奏家としてヨーロッパ、アメリカ、オーストラリアなどで活動し、ルツェルン交響楽団をはじめとするオーケストラと共演。ショパン・オン・サウザンド・アイランズ国際ピアノコンクール、ハートフォード・ショパン国際ピアノコンクールなどで第1位を受賞するなど、数々の国際コンクールで優秀な成績を収めています。

2008年より後進の指導にも力を注ぎ、「身体に無理のない自然で効率的なテクニック」「時代様式への理解」「イメージや物語を通して作品を読み解く豊かな解釈」の三つを柱とした教育を実践しています。

ウクライナ、アメリカ、イタリア、スイスで研鑽を積み、コンスタンティン・リフシッツ、エリソ・ヴィルサラーゼ、アレクサンダー・コルサンティア、イリーナ・モロゾワらに師事。グラーツ音楽・舞台芸術大学にて博士号（Dr. Artium with Excellence）を取得し、現在も演奏活動と芸術研究の両面から、音楽表現の新たな可能性を探求しています。

Dr. Elina Akselrud is a Ukrainian-American pianist, artistic researcher, and fine art photographer whose work bridges classical performance and interdisciplinary art. She is the artistic director of Intertwining Arts, an international collective creating innovative concert experiences that combine music with photography, film, dance, and other visual arts.

As a concert pianist, Elina has performed throughout Europe, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, appearing with orchestras including the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. She is a prizewinner of numerous international piano competitions, including First Prize at both the Chopin on Thousand Islands International Piano Competition and the Hartford Chopin International Piano Competition in the United States.

Since 2008, Elina has been dedicated to piano pedagogy. Her teaching is built on three pillars: healthy and efficient technique, a deep understanding of stylistic traditions, and the cultivation of imagination through imagery and interpretation.

Elina studied in Ukraine, the United States, Italy, and Switzerland with distinguished pianists including Konstantin Lifschitz, Eliso Virsaladze, Alexander Korsantia, and Irina Morozova. She received her Dr. Artium with Excellence from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where her artistic research explored interdisciplinary approaches to piano performance. Today, she continues to combine concert performance, teaching, and artistic research in pursuit of new possibilities for musical expression.
